Carlsbad Parking Study: Another Summer in the Books

DIXON recently completed data collection for the City of Carlsbad as part of its annual parking study, covering on- and off-street parking throughout the Village, Barrio, and Beach neighborhoods during the busy summer season.

Our team collected data throughout the day on both a weekday and weekend, following parking activity from the quieter morning hours through the afternoon and evening rush. Using a combination of mobile License Plate Recognition (LPR) and drone technology, we captured occupancy and turnover across the study area to see where parking filled up, how long vehicles stayed, and how conditions shifted throughout the day.

As always, all license plate data was anonymized to protect privacy, with no personal information retained.

With another summer of data collection complete, the City can add this year’s results to its growing record and compare how parking demand and patterns are changing over time across these popular Carlsbad neighborhoods.
