On Tuesday, Julie Dixon presented an update regarding the Downtown Parking Management Study, which seeks to improve parking management in the commercial core of San Juan Capistrano. Julie spoke to members of the City Council about the project timeline, data collection, community engagement, online survey reporting, and next steps, while fielding questions at the dais from Council and community members.

The study will include evaluating the existing parking program, developing administrative guidelines and operations to future-proof the program, and evaluating opportunities for technology enhancements, wayfinding upgrades, curb management solutions, enhancing compliance, and other solutions. The goal is to bring the Study back to Council towards the end of the year with actionable recommendations that can be implemented and adjusted to meet the parking program’s goals.
