Dixon Resources Unlimited is proud to support the City of Tustin as it moves forward with strategies to improve parking access, safety, and mobility in Southwest Tustin.

Following DIXON’s residential parking study and community engagement process, the Tustin City Council unanimously approved a package of recommendations designed to address immediate needs while building toward longer-term solutions on May 19th, 2026. The study combined on-the-ground parking counts, drone observations, bilingual workshops and surveys, and interviews with residents, apartment managers, and other local stakeholders.

The approved strategies include expanded parking enforcement, improved permit-parking outreach in multiple languages, shared-parking opportunities with nearby properties, additional street lighting, clearer parking-space markings, dedicated motorcycle spaces, and continued monitoring to measure results over time.

Council members recognized the need for practical, equitable solutions in one of Tustin’s most densely populated neighborhoods. Council Member Ryan Nielsen praised the work, saying, “You guys did a great job,” and later described the recommendations from staff and DIXON as “spot on.” Mayor Austin Lumbard also thanked “DIXON, law enforcement, and staff for pushing this forward.”

The Council directed staff to take a phased approach, prioritize quicker improvements where possible, communicate with residents in English and Spanish, and return with an implementation timeline and progress updates.
